Doesn’t everyone want a swimming pool in the backyard? So that they can enjoy summers to the fullest by having pool parties and spending most of their spare time in the pool. As appealing as having a pool may sound, it is not an easy task to maintain it. There are a lot of things that can go wrong if you do not clean and maintain your pool frequently and consistently.

Here are some ways you can ensure that your pool remains clean and well-maintained:

  1. Clean Debris

Clean floating debris from the pool at least once a week. You can use the skimmer basket for this purpose. The process will take 5 or 10 minutes at most. Once you are done cleaning debris make sure to dispose of it properly and far from the pool. If you have bushes, plants or trees near the pool, then trim them frequently. Otherwise, there will be a lot of debris in the pool and you will have to clean it more frequently. If you do not clean debris it can get stuck in the filter of the pool making it difficult to clean the pool.

  1. Vacuum

Swimming pool should be vacuumed at least once a week as it helps in keeping the water clean and clear. Moreover, if you vacuum frequently you will not have to use a lot of chemical in your pool water. There are various types of vacuums available in the market. You can easily select the one that seems suitable for your needs. If you are using a vacuum cleaner for the first time, read instructions thoroughly before using it. Whenever you vacuum the pool, check the filter as well and clean it if necessary.

  1. Cleaning Walls of the Pool

Maintaining a swimming pool does not mean that you vacuum it once a week and you are done. Walls of the pool should be cleaned frequently using a brush. This way you can minimize the number of calcium deposits and algae from building up. If there is build up in the pool it can easily lead to much bigger problems. If you have a plaster lined concrete pool then use the stiff brush for best results. If your pool has fibreglass or vinyl walls then you should use a soft bristle brush.

  1. Maintain PH Value of the Pool

It is very important to regularly check if the pool water is healthy and clean. PH reading of the pool water should be between 7.2 and 7.8. This level is considered safe for swimmers. It is preferable to have a pH testing kit as it makes things much easier to keep a check and you do not have to go to the chemist. Maintaining the proper pH of the water can ensure that you and your family do not get any skin allergies or health problems.

You should always take care of the chemical that is used in pool water. Most importantly make sure you add the right amount of chemicals in the water. If you add more than required it can be dangerous for your skin and health.
